The current real estate market is constantly shifting and evolving, especially in such a hot spot as Disney’s Backyard here in Horizon West. The market isn’t just shifting by the year down here in Florida, it’s shifting by the week! There are the truly remarkable professionals, the middle-of-the-road folks who do a fine job, and those who phone it in, letting you as the client do the bulk of the work while they collect their commission on closing day.
But when we talk about real estate, we’re not just talking about buying houses. We’re talking about homes, where you lay down your head each night and wake up in the morning. Finding the perfect home is an essential part of the process, and then comes the kicker: now you’ve got to figure out how that home fits into the current market. I truly believe every client deserves a Realtor that has one finger on the pulse of the housing market, and another on the pulse of the beating hearts living in the homes we’re trying to buy and sell.

Don’t Trust The Clickbait – Trust The Pros
Here in the real estate world, the headlines flash brighter than the Disney fireworks. Big, sensational clickbait topics get the most engagement, sure, but it’s important to remember that those sources have a vested interest not in giving you the most accurate information, but instead giving you the most flashy information. Apocalyptic promises of huge foreclosures or a crashing housing market are everywhere you look, but if you ask any of the professionals within the industry, all the way to the top, the consensus is clear: the fear mongering is for getting clicks, not for sharing facts.
This can, of course, be incredibly frustrating. I can hear you now: “But Amy, if I can’t trust what the internet tells me, then who can I trust?” Well, here’s the thing. You trust a Realtor. And not just any Realtor, but a GOOD Realtor who knows what they’re talking about. Just think about it–in a market that shifts day by day, anything you find on the internet is going to be–just by virtue of being something that was written and published days, weeks, or months ago–outdated. Even if that information was relevant when it was written (and that can be a big if) there’s no guarantee that the information is still relevant now.
When you’re buying or selling a house, you need two things that the internet can be pretty bad at sometimes: honesty and immediacy. That house you love on a listing website might already be sold before it ever shows up on the site…but how will you know that? Well, if you’ve got me as your Realtor, you will. And you’ll probably also have comprehensive and easy-to-understand information about other homes in the area that are similar, well-priced, and (most importantly) actually on the market.

I appreciate the go-getters and do-it-yourselfers of the world. Truly, I do, because most days, I’m one of them! But real estate is one of those professions, much like building a house, that’s best done with the help of somebody who knows the tools of the trade. Folks might think selling or buying a home is as easy as buying some milk from the grocery store or selling their old records on ebay, but it’s so much more complicated than that. Every little detail about your home has an impact on its marketability, and the only people privy to what a home is truly worth are the builders, the inspectors, and the Realtors.
